Reach Stacker Operative

Job purpose

Operate reach stackers in the Rail Freight terminal ensuring safe and efficient operation of all terminal activities.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe and efficient use of Reach Stackers. Maintain daily safety checks and defect reporting protocols.
• Maintain the safe and efficient movement of all containers within the stack areas and provide location and status details via the radio.
• Liaise with Yard Operator / Shunter on all train consists and loading, unloading of trains.
• Responsible for all truck loading and unloading arrangements.
• Maintain the Ancillary building for stores cleanliness and reporting of defects.
• Fuelling of Reach Stackers.

Qualifications

• Education – Minimum GCSE English & Mathematics
• Specialised knowledge – Experience of working in a Rail freight terminal preferable
• Skills – Good communicator – Self Motivating – Team player – Leadership skills
• Abilities – To work alone and in team environment           
• C+E (Class 1) is preferred but not essential as onsite training for reachstacker and tug will be given.

Working conditions

24/7 Shift working including BH and Weekends – Indoors and Outdoors
