EU Engineering Project Manager

Amazon is seeking an experienced and business oriented EU Engineering Project Manager to lead the planning and execution of highly complex logistic process automation and storage projects for the continued expansion of our EU fulfillment network.

Successful candidates will be natural self-starters who have Engineering Program and Project Management experience combined with a strong technical problem solving ability. The role will understand all aspects of an Amazon Fulfillment Center while focusing on its automation technologies (conveyance, sortation, robotics) and storage solutions. This individual will be responsible for designing and delivering state-of-the-art material handling systems and innovations as well as managing internal teams and vendor relations in order to successfully launch new Fulfillment Centers. The role will be based in the UK with 50% of time traveling either domestically or to other EU countries.

Office location is flexible but it may be easier to be based in the north of the UK(several projects in 2022).

· End-to-end ownership for large-scale engineering projects
· Lead critical path items, dive deep on technical details and provide innovative solutions to resolve issues
· Assess and communicate project status, drive escalations on potential risks and delays across multiple teams and leadership
· Prepare and conduct weekly standing meetings with internal teams and external vendors to plan and track deliverables
· Create, submit and track the relevant CAPEX documentation to ensure that all projects are delivered within budget and best overall value
· Lead technical design reviews and propose design solutions for material handling and storage solutions that meet both business needs and global design standards
· Assist in engineering capacity management for EU
· Assist in providing equipment specifications and technical support to procurement and other business partners for best value and competition
· Coordinate information between various teams in the organization
· Work very closely with Construction/Real Estate, IT and Operation from project start to go live
A day in the life
You will work on delivery of our Greenfield Amazon Robotic Sortable Fulfillment Centers with a project lifecyle of about a year. The concepting and procurement phase can be done mainly from a fixed Amazon office or your home.
The execution phase of about 6 months requires you to be based on the project site for most of the week. Though you'll work in a team to allow you to cover hometime as needed.


· Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering or related discipline
· Proven technical leadership and project management experience in development and implementation of large scale and complex engineering projects
· Ability to lead internal teams and manage vendor relations
· Excellent working knowledge using MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project and related software
· Fluency in English


· Strong knowledge about automated material handling systems, packaging technologies and storage solutions
· Experience with process design based on Lean Principles
· Comprehensive understanding of operational as well as reliability and maintenance processes including relevant software tools
· A plus is speaking other EU languages
